About Us

Last updated:

Cinemas Diary is an independent entertainment website dedicated to Malayalam cinema and the wider world of Indian films. We cover movie news, honest film reviews, OTT release guides, celebrity profiles, and trailer breakdowns — written by people who genuinely love cinema and want to help readers decide what to watch next.

Our Story

Cinemas Diary started with a simple idea: film fans deserve a reliable place to read about the movies they love without clickbait, recycled rumours, or misleading headlines. Malayalam cinema in particular has grown from a regional industry into one of the most respected film cultures in India, with films like Drishyam, Kumbalangi Nights, Manjummel Boys and 2018 reaching audiences across the country and the world. Yet much of the coverage online is either thin, rushed or written purely to chase clicks.

We wanted to build something different — a “diary” of cinema where every entry is useful, accurate, and written with care. Whether you are looking for the best Malayalam thrillers to stream this weekend, the release status of an upcoming film, or an honest opinion on whether a movie is worth your ticket money, Cinemas Diary aims to give you a clear and trustworthy answer.

What We Cover

  • Malayalam Cinema – upcoming Malayalam movies, must-watch classics, genre guides, industry trends and features on filmmakers who shaped Mollywood.
  • Movie Reviews – spoiler-light reviews with clear ratings that evaluate story, performances, direction, music and technical craft.
  • OTT Releases – where to stream Malayalam and Indian films on Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar, SonyLIV, ZEE5, Manorama Max and other platforms.
  • Cinema News – box office trends, film announcements, awards, festivals and important industry developments.
  • Celebrities – respectful career profiles of actors, actresses and directors, focused on their work and achievements rather than gossip.
  • Trailers & Teasers – breakdowns of what a promo reveals about a film and what audiences can expect.

Our Editorial Values

Trust is the foundation of everything we publish. Our team follows a written Editorial Policy that guides how we research, write, fact-check and update articles. In short:

  • Accuracy first. We verify release dates, cast details, box office claims and streaming availability against official announcements and reputable sources before publishing.
  • No fake news or fabricated quotes. We never invent statements from celebrities or present rumours as facts. When something is unconfirmed, we say so clearly.
  • Independent reviews. Our reviews reflect the honest opinion of the writer. Producers, studios and PR agencies cannot buy a rating.
  • Respect for people. We write about public figures fairly and avoid invasive or harmful content about their private lives.
  • Corrections. If we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and transparently.

Images and Copyright

We respect the work of photographers and creators. Images on Cinemas Diary come from free-to-use and openly licensed sources such as Wikimedia Commons, Pexels, Unsplash and Pixabay, or from official promotional material where use is permitted. Wherever a licence requires attribution, we credit the creator in the image caption. Read our Copyright Policy to learn more or to report a concern.

Who Reads Cinemas Diary

Our readers are movie lovers from Kerala, across India and the Malayali diaspora in the Gulf, Europe, North America and beyond. Some want quick answers — “Is this film on OTT yet?” — while others enjoy long reads about the history and craft of Malayalam cinema. We write for both, keeping articles easy to read on mobile while still offering depth.

Advertising and Independence

Cinemas Diary is free to read and is supported by advertising. Ads are clearly separated from editorial content, and advertisers have no influence over what we write. Sponsored content, if any, will always be clearly labelled. See our Advertising Policy and Affiliate Disclosure for full details.
