Cinemas Diary respects the intellectual property rights of filmmakers, photographers, writers and all creators, and we expect our readers and contributors to do the same. This Copyright Policy explains who owns the content on our website, how we use third-party material, and how to report a copyright concern.
1. Ownership of Our Content
All original articles, reviews, features, graphics, logos and site design published on Cinemas Diary are the intellectual property of Cinemas Diary unless stated otherwise, and are protected under the Indian Copyright Act, 1957 and international copyright treaties.
What you may do
- Share links to our articles on social media, forums and messaging apps.
- Quote a short excerpt (up to 50 words) with clear credit to “Cinemas Diary” and a direct, followable link to the original article.
What you may not do
- Republish, copy or translate our articles in full or in substantial part without written permission.
- Remove credits, watermarks or attribution from our content or images.
- Use our content to train commercial datasets, or scrape it in bulk, without permission.
2. How We Use Images
We are careful to use only images that we have the right to use. Images on Cinemas Diary come from:
- Wikimedia Commons – images released under Creative Commons licences (such as CC BY, CC BY-SA or CC0) or in the public domain. We credit the author and licence in the image caption as required by the licence.
- Free stock libraries – Pexels, Unsplash and Pixabay images used under their respective free licences.
- Official promotional material – posters, stills and trailers released by production houses and distributors for publicity, used for news reporting and review purposes where permitted.
- Original graphics – banners and featured images created by our team.
Images may be cropped, resized, compressed or combined with our branding for layout purposes. Where a Creative Commons ShareAlike licence applies, the modified image remains available under the same licence.
3. Fair Dealing
Short quotations, trailer references and promotional images may be used for the purposes of criticism, review and reporting of current events, as permitted under Section 52 of the Indian Copyright Act, 1957, with appropriate acknowledgement.
4. Reporting Copyright Infringement
If you believe that material on Cinemas Diary infringes your copyright, please send a written notice to mail@admarq.in with the subject line “Copyright Notice” containing:
- your full name and contact details (email and phone number);
- a description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed;
- the exact URL(s) on Cinemas Diary where the material appears;
- proof of ownership or authority to act on behalf of the owner (for example, a link to the original work);
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law;
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act on behalf of the owner.
5. Our Response
We review all valid notices promptly, usually within 48–72 hours. If the claim is valid, we will remove or replace the material and may notify the person who supplied it. If we believe the use is licensed or permitted by law, we will explain our position to you.
6. Counter-Notice
If content you contributed was removed and you believe this was a mistake, you may send a counter-notice with your contact details, the removed material’s location, and a statement explaining why you believe the removal was in error.
7. Repeat Infringers
We do not work with contributors who repeatedly submit infringing material.
