Because it was released in Tamil and Telugu as well, viewers across South India can watch it in their preferred language. Story: What Is Bethlehem Kudumba Unit About?
Mamitha Baiju plays Ashley, who returns to Kerala after studying in Ireland to attend the wedding of Justin’s brother. Justin, played by Nivin Pauly, is the older man she loved before she left, a relationship that ended because of her family’s opposition and their age gap. Back home among relatives, music and wedding chaos, the two discover that neither has really moved on. The film follows whether love can survive family pressure the second time around.
Girish A.D., who earlier made Thanneer Mathan Dinangal, Super Sharanya and Premalu, is known for observational humour and believable young characters. Here he adds a more mature emotional core, with family scenes that many viewers say feel like their own homes. The light tone, catchy songs and strong supporting cast made it a repeat-watch favourite in theatres, which is why the Bethlehem Kudumba Unit OTT release was so eagerly awaited.
Cast

For Nivin Pauly, the film marks a major comeback to the kind of charming, everyday hero who made him a star. Mamitha Baiju, who became a household name after Premalu, carries the emotional weight with ease. Sangeeth Prathap and Shyam Mohan, also Girish A.D. regulars, deliver many of the biggest laughs. A Record-Breaking Box Office Run
The film crossed ₹100 crore worldwide in five days and ₹200 crore in twelve, according to trade reports. By mid-September it had passed ₹300 crore, overtaking Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra to become the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time, with Kerala gross alone reported above ₹132 crore. For a reported budget of about ₹23 crore, it is one of the most profitable Indian films of the year. Our full Bethlehem Kudumba Unit box office report breaks down every milestone.
The Music Behind the Magic
A big reason for the film’s repeat value is its soundtrack. Several songs trended on social media for weeks, with fans recreating dance steps at weddings and college events across Kerala. The music blends playful wedding numbers with softer romantic tracks that match Ashley and Justin’s story. Watching the Bethlehem Kudumba Unit OTT version with good headphones or a soundbar makes a noticeable difference, especially during the big family celebration sequences in the second half.
Girish A.D. uses songs to move the story forward rather than stop it, a style audiences first loved in Premalu. Many scenes cut between dialogue and music so smoothly that the film rarely feels long despite its festive length. If you enjoyed the songs in theatres, the streaming release lets you revisit them as often as you like, and many fans say the jokes land even better on a second watch.
